Voodoo Rave – The Return @ Dogstar (South London) 9th July

Happening this Saturday night Voodoo Rave is returning, setting up base in The Dogstar over Brixton ways for some bass heavy joy.

Considering how much he’s been name checked and dropped about in the scene it’s hard to believe that it’s the debut UK set from Gremino. The Finnish producer has been smashing it on the bass tip for a bit of time now, best known for reppin’ Rag & Bone and Car Crash Set. Definitely looking forward to hearing him doing it live, as his official releases the dubs that have sneaked past on to the airwaves have been as sounding heavy if not heavier to his official releases. He’ll be sharing headlining duties with Sheffield bassline man J69 and our favorite Sub.fm pairing of Jambie and Raynulds.

Looking to be a big night. Check the press release below, the flyer above and right at the bottom Jambie’s thrown together a mix for us in celebration of the frivolities.

Voodoo Rave is back!!!

That’s right. And this time we’re taking this duppy down Saaaarrfff London, just in time to scare the shit out of ya Brixton summertime.

Headlining the damn thing will be very special guests J69 & Gremino.

Coming straight outta Sheffield, and with support from DJ EZ as well as play @ Fabric, Rinse & FWD, J69 is a young UKB / BASSLINE producer and DJ with multiple releases already on his own CryBaby Recordings as well as The Squire Of Gothos’ Off Me Nut Records, who has done remixes of everyone from Dexplicit & Akon to Sizzla & Charlie Sheen.

Playing his debut (yes, first EVER) UK set will be Helsinki’s first man in grime GREMINO! With massively succesful releases already on underground labels Car Crash Set and Rag & Bone Records (and with supporters including Ghost House / Slew Dem’s DJ Spooky as well as Numbers / Oil gang roster man SLACKK) he’s already established himself as one of THE cutting edge import producers to watch at the moment, drawing influence from everything from junglist hardcore to acid, garage & GRIME.

The rest of the evening’s entertainment will be provided by the full Voodoo cartel, including radio regulars Jambie & Raynulds, providing everything from up to the time grime, bassline & funky, to unreleased juke and footwork, avin’ it ardkore, old skool jungle, darkside drum n bass, sweet sweet soca, classic CR2 dubstep vinyl, house, techno, bashment, reggae, 2step n’ garage.

Forgotten horror gems and gory classics all chopped up and beamed out on a massive projector from start to finish. Joss sticks, cursed dolls, masks, drums and corpse paint as standard.

Eeky freaky. See you there.
