Two Dogs in a House – ‘Eliminator’ 12″ [L.I.E.S.] / Juno Plus 3rd Birthday [LDN 12.10.12]

The Ron Morelli run Long Island Electrical System aka L.I.E.S. has got to be the most consistently dope label out there at the moment. We’ve spoken about them here loads, and been rinsing out the releases on NTS, but with every record they still surprise us with the quality of tracks, usually accompanied with a mind-bending video of VHS haze.

We last saw Mr Morelli’s own production on a collaborative project with D. Lee for the raw and heavy vibes of the Real Bad News 12″ (LIES012.5). This time around he’s sharing the composition duties with Jason Letkiewicz, bringing back the Two Dogs In A House alias for their latest plate Eliminator. Distorted bass and heavy thumping house drums are complimented with beaten and twisted organ sounds, all elements busily going at each other to make it a near-perfect record. It’s a massive plate, somewhat darker and more sonically violating, but equally as floor-destroying. We love it.

The video’s also fantastically hectic, soundtracked by the A side of the wax. The fourteen minute clip is directed and produced by Juan Bocca and Oliver Vereker, and you can check it out after the press release below.

Returning to the L.I.E.S. label after their long ago released debut offering in 2010 (see catalog LIES-02).
Jason Letkiewicz (aka Steve Summers) and Ron Morelli (L.I.E.S. Records) have once again teamed up in the studio.
This time around, the duo were able to go to a secluded bunker in Stockholm, Sweden, locked away and free of outside distraction with full access to the machines. During these three days the goal was to be as free as possible in the machine manipulation, with the only goal being to make ” a bit more complex beat tracks” (if you don’t know what a beat track is see Faces Drums, Hiccup Track, Jive Rhythm Tracks, Dance Forever, Mix Your Own Stars ect.). In doing so with this minimal aesthetic in mind, the Dogs were able to execute what they see as simple, destructive dj tools not so far away from the sonic experiments of T-N-T or new-Build era 808 State, that retain the live energy that is turning the machines and going in. These tracks are not for individuals who are concerned with the limitations of structured music but for those willing to engage in willful sonic pain. (whatever that means).

As a bonus for those London based, Ron Morelli is going to be spinning live this Friday at the Juno Plus 3rd Birthday event. £7 entry fee, nice and intimate setting at The Waiting Room (N16 Stoke Newington) and support from Will Bankhead, underground hero in his own right serving us heat from his own The Trilogy Tapes label on a regular basis.
