Special Request Launch Party at ? [LDN 5.4.12]

As an online group Special Request has been a relentless stream of quality music, invite only so free from spam which makes it even easier to stay on top of. Personally I missed out on the underground garage vibes when they were at their peak in the UK, but taking a voyeuristic view to what’s being shared with Special Request has been shedding light on sounds I’ve been sleeping on for too long.

They’re taking it live now, and we know with two of the Lostbahnhof crew involved and underground heads guesting it’s going to be a highlight of the 2012 Easter weekend. Details below, big ups Semtek and TK for spreading the vibes, get involved.

Special Request – The Launch Party

Easter Thursday, April 5th, 9pm – 4am
The Questionmark Bar,
129 Stoke Newington High St.
N16 0PH
Free before 11pm /£3 after

Featuring DJs:

Capracara (Unknown to the Unknown)
Charlie Bennett (To The Bone)
Hypercook (Hyponik)
+ Residents: Semtek (Don’t Be Afraid) & TK (Lostbahnhof)

The concept that started as a destination on the Internet for fans of classic and current house & garage to post the music they love has spawned its first club night. This is about good times, music and dancing in time-honoured London style. So whether you were ‘there’ in 1988, in Room 2 at the Dream FM Allnighter, right at the front at Garage Nation or in the corner at FWD>> this night is for you… it’s a special request!

Playing the timeless sounds of the UK underground, we have some of London’s top DJs. Capracara’s recent moves for Unknown To The Unknown and Rush Hour recall the simple golden days of 90’s house music. To The Bone’s Charlie Bennett is unbeaten in his specialist subject – speed garage circa 1996. Man about town Hypercook will represent the more recent deluge of house and garage-inspired UK bass music via its own Chi-town roots. Lostbahnhof and Don’t Be Afraid selectors TK and Semtek take on the role of residents. With free entry before 11pm and no work the next day for Easter, this is guaranteed to be a ROADBLOCK.
