While we’re on the photo book tip it’s worth shouting at the latest Cafe Royal Books publication that we got sent from crew in London. Running Riots and the Days After is a photo zine collecting work from well known independent photographer Homer Sykes, based around riots in the UK / EIRE.
Focussing on events in the late ’70s to early ’80s – the Toxteth Riots in Liverpool, The Troubles in Belfast, Notting Hill Carnival, a National Front March in Lewisham and the Grunwick industrial disputes in Willesden, North London -Sykes presents a snapshot of times of unrest and when people took the streets to protest.
Cafe Royal Books really do an excellent job in producing these zines. For those that remember we properly gushed Generally coming in editions of 150 at a time you can pick them up individually (if you’re quick enough) or you can subscribe and get them sent out to you as they’re released.
