All My Records Episode 5

All My Records Episode 5 – the show where we play my record collection. This show saw us go through Remy LBO’s debut LP Component, an Illum Sphere 12″ on Tectonic from 2011, the wonderful Johnny Trunk’s Scrap Book LP, the ever good Mr. Chop aka Coz Littler and his debut full length on the underrated Jazz&Milk Recordings, James Pants, that Dam-Funk 12″ plate on Stones Throw that announced him to the world, a collaboration between Shawn Lee’s Ping Pong Orchestra and Nino Moschella remixed by Mark Pritchard (which I have no recollection about), the legendary and sole One Self LP Children Of Possibility and finally closing it off with a white / test pressing of the instrumental edition of DJ Mitsu The Beats’ sophomore LP from 2009 A Word To The Wise.

All My Records Episode 4

Well this is exciting: some ten months after our first outing we’ve’ reached the end of ‘shelf 1’ (as measured in the traditional Ikea Expedit unit of measurement). Hazar! All My Records Episode 2

About three months after we started this I finally found some time New Years Eve morning to record the next instalment of All My Records. A quick calculation suggests that at sixteen to twenty records every three months it’ll take us about sixty years to get through all the shelves. We’ll try and pick up the pace a bit perhaps.…

All My Records Episode 1

Having moved about 4000 records to a third house in three years I’m getting ready to concede that there is a possibility that my wife and parents are right, I’m never going to listen to them all again. And that’s sad, because although I’d consider myself equal parts collector and selector, records are meant to be played. Like a lot…

JMF vs KK – Sessions #57

Jimmy Monsta Funk and Kamikaze aka Paul Ackroyd got together a few weekends ago for what turned out to be four hours worth of killer tune selection. It’s been over two years since these guys got together to play records, stoked to present JMF vs KK for 2019, split across two parts. I stand by my comments that Paul and…

John Robinson – ‘Rhythms, Jazz and Politics’ Cassette [Beatvizion Music]

Rhythms, Jazz and Politics has been my go to instrumental beat-tape since John Robinson dropped it on us back in August. Straying away from obvious uses of samples, the ability to deconstruct a track and reinvent it while keeping it’s original feeling in tact is something that separates the generic sounding from the classics. Rhythms… is straight classic. It’s beats that still send shivers downy our back, that we love and miss, and you can’t help but be drawn to comparisons of the work on Midnight Marauders.
