For the London peeps out on the long weekend – what more could you want than an Ostgut Ton x 50 Weapons party followed by a battleship after party to kick on to? Pretty heavyweight lineup on the techno tip comprised of consistently dope legends and the more current boundary pushers who always deliver something special.
With Robert Hood on the lineup it’s a good excuse to talk about the work of the Detroit pioneer who’s been a relentless techno staple over the last twenty years. Continually crafting his own distinct sound, the former Underground Resistance ‘Minister Of Information’ dropped one of the best techno LPs in recent memory with last year’s Motor: Nighttime World 3. Starting with the essential Internal Empire in 1994, Hood’s full lengths have always stood head and shoulders over most of his contemporaries as complete offerings, uncrowded and straight to the point. Not limiting himself to one alias or project, his Floorplan releases are essential play-out tools and as The Vision he stepped up to the Jeff Mills level of complexly layered futurism-techno. Here’s a chance to see him headlining an incredible lineup, and not something to be missed.
Stepping up on behalf of Ostgut Ton will be one of the current kings of the underground, Function. As part of Sandwell District and solo Function has always been amazing live, worth the price of entry alone, and the album out this month proves he’s a don in the studio too. Also just out was a stunning 2xLP from Benjamin Damage on 50 Weapons, and yes he’s going live, as will be Shed in the 50 Weapons room.

Broken & Uneven’s return to another Easter Thursday (28th March) special with Berlin’s premier techno outpost Ostgut Ton who this time team up with 50 Weapons.
Leading the charge for Ostgut Ton is one of their long-standing residents Marcel Fengler, who is renowned for his gritty and melodic style of techno and he’s joined by label-mates Barker and Baumecker who will be playing a live set and re-creating the magic of their standout ‘Transsektoral’ album.
Sandwell District’s Function will be previewing some choice cuts from his forthcoming debut album on the label ‘Incubation’, with a combined live and DJ set whilst special guest Robert Hood will be bringing the spirit of Detroit techno with him hot off the back of his long-awaited ‘Motor: Nighttime World 3’ album.
Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons imprint will be represented on the night by elusive but ever-prolific Shed who will be performing a live set after releasing his album ‘The Killer’ on the label last year.
Bristol’s own Addison Groove brings his brand of bass-infused electronica to the table after the release of his debut album ‘Transistor Rhythm’ and Benjamin Damage will be playing a rare solo live set after years of collaborating with Doc Daneeka, with the highlight being their colourful ‘They! Live’ album from last year.
