NTS Awkward Movements Show – 22.7.13

Quality radio as always from Paul Ackroyd aka Kamikaze, going live from the NTS headquarters in Dalston for Awkward Movements last week. Stream or download the full show below, complete with track list. The next Awkward Movements show will be going out in a week’s time, Monday 5th of August 2-4pm on NTS radio. Make sure you get locked.

It was the warmest day in six years in the UK on Monday, and in the height of it I was locked inside the NTS studio. Way too hot. Plenty ace tunes though, including field recordings of birds by Chris Watson, split albumness with Heroin In Tahiti and Ensemble Economique, and the two very different sides of Pan Sonic’s former members, Mika Vainio and Ilpo Väisänen, on bleakcore and carhorns respectively. Those aside, delightful bells from Charlemagne Palestine, banjo demolition with Paul Metzger, modern classical by the Marsen Jules Trio, and a hefty slab of motorik spacerock from Ved. Beaty repetition this time comes courtesy of Rrose, Rodhad, Berliner Ring, and Moerbeck, traditional sounds are from Cameroon and Afghanistan, and there’s the usual ‘loads more besides’ to tie it all together. Beautiful sounds. Enjoy x
