Things have been crazy-busy lately, especially for Paul Ackroyd who dedicated the better part of last month getting The Dead Albatross Music Prize up and running. More on that later, but we got to shout the man out for existing on barely any sleep and creating brilliant radio along the way.
Double archive from the Awkward Movements Show on NTS then, which is quite nice listening as one whole-chunk if you happen to be unemployed or employed at a desk job. Since we split the shows to two hours each at a time (instead of together) we rarely appear on these pages together, so for the full effect of what we’re like in the studio together we suggest you play these using a mixer to cross-fade between the two-shows on alternating mic-breaks.

A bit of a spotlight on saxophonist and experimental artist Matana Roberts, who recently graced the cover of The Wire incidentally, who’s dropped a new album in the form of Coin Coin Chapter Two: Mississippi Moonchile which is definitely worth checking out.

Went on a bit of rediscovery of The Trilogy Tapes label recently resulting in a big package of amazing records turning up on my doorstep and influencing a great deal more of the show than one label normally would. Absolutely no apologies though.
As well as those, from Moonraker, DJ Spider & Marshallito and something from the incredible Rezzett record that continues to blow us away we had forthcoming tracks from the eMMplekz project, wax-only business with an installment from Kaiju, Shit & Shine on Diagonal (sounding like nothing else they’ve done before) and some experimental bits from Richard Youngs and Rene Hell to name a few.
