Mincy on Pirate Copy

mincy djingMincy done slayed this one. Guesting on Sgt. Pokes and N-Type’s monthly show Pirate Copy, she took the opportunity to showcase Australian producers exclusively in her mix.

I first met Mincy about six years ago. Back then she hustled like crazy holding down a full-time job, working as one of Sydney’s top alt-photographers, producing zine’s and the like, and generally just making a success out of whatever the hell she felt like turning her hand to. And while I’m sure that part hasn’t changed (nor has her amazing work ethic) it does feel like she’s found her calling playing and promoting.

Returning from London a few years back Mincy started running nights, check Extra Spicy, not only bringing out artists from overseas but also giving the local scene a central-point and network to tap in to. It’s been blowing up for her since then with a consistent schedule being played around Australia month in month out in addition to her own nights.

In short, there’s no one better suited to be doing this right now. The fact that she’s taken the opportunity to drop-in local talent exclusively talks to that.

I’d recommend carving out two hours to listen to Pokes, N-Type and Benny Ill present the show in full. It was nice to hear N-Type shouting at his time spent in Australia early on too. But for those in a rush you can skip straight Mincy’s part at the eighteen-minute mark.

Follow her nights and reach out to her on twitter here.
