Ended up at this locale a couple of weeks in a row, and fast turning in to one of my favorite Sydney spots. Lazybones Lounge in Marrickville is proper vibes, mixing the resident house bands with rare record DJs and quality sound.
You wouldn’t know what to expect coming up the stairs, but on all occasions we’ve been greeted by live jazz on a small-step stage. Filled with couches, armchairs and coffee tables it’s the best setting we’ve strolled in to, especially after 9pm on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Inside the design is spacious, meaning that while it only holds about 130 people, no one feels cramped and it’s easy to relax and hold on a conversation.
That said, it’s still half a venue, with live jazz seven nights a week, open till 3am Thursday to Saturday. Proper food too, gourmet pizza is the specialty and then craft beers and guest wines – can’t emphasise how good the atmosphere is and the guaranteed quality night.
Only about two months old, the crew behind Lazybones Lounge have definitely brought us something special. Worth checking out even if you’re not in the area.
