Lapalux Signs To Brainfeeder

It’s under a year since we found out about Lapalux via Many Faces Out Of Focus, the EP he dropped in limited cassette form on Pictures Music. We were well impressed from that offering and apparently not the only ones. It’s recently been announced that the 23 year old Essex producer has been picked up by Brainfeeder, the label owned, run and operated by one Flying Lotus out of LA.

The seven track EP’s going by the name of When You’re Gone – and this time around Lapalux comes correct with a wax pressing alongside the digital download option. Both versions can be pre-ordered now for a 6th of Feb delivery on the mp3s and wavs and the 22nd for the physical. Strangely enough the vinyl with mp3 download is cheaper than the wavs. Having sneaked in an early listen there’s no doubt that the Lapalux has kicked his productions up a gear. Intensely complex and perfectly off-kilter, there’s some beautiful listening here, a nice addition to the Brainfeeder roster.

Stuart Howard aka Lapalux has come up with something special for his first release with Cali’s finest, Brainfeeder. When You’re Gone is an EP of such poise and beauty, one listen is enough to know you’re onto something special.

Lapalux bathes your brain in lush textures, surprising and explosive atmospheres set in unencountered, unearthly spaces, all somehow perfectly set against catchy rolling choruses informed by pop and commercial R&B. Whether working with a singer like Py (on “Moments”), or deconstructing found samples and his own voice, Howard stretches, bends and warps sound to make soul – not plastic posturing but real emotion made of synthetic sound.

1. 102 Hours of Introductions
2. Moments (Feat. PY)
