JMF’s You Asked For It Part 3 – ‘Even Through The Bad Times’

And here we are at Part 3 of 4 of ‘You Asked For It’ – Jimmy Monsta Funk playing wax selected exclusively from his record purchases of 2016. If you missed the first installments you can catch up below. Well worth doing as each part throws up a totally different slant on how the year played out release wise, from a man with one of the best living collections I’ve ever come across.

Part 1: Paid the Cost
Part 2: Stranger Things Have Happened

In Part 3 JMF plants his feet firmly in techno territory, exploring his lifelong love of the genre that started in Detroit. Across 26 tracks in 80 minutes he balances the tough with the technical, the jazz with the tribal and blends the floor movers with the noodley, from every corner of the globe. Omar S, Octave One, Terrence Dixon and Aaron Siegel appear with labels such as Dekmantel, Transmat, M-Plant and DJ Bone on his own Subject Detroit imprint.

And of course a heavy nod to Underground Resistance alumni including Robert Hood / Floorplan, Mark Flash and Rolando who not only have decades old legacy but also released some of the best records of 2016.

Big things here. Rarely can techno be explored in one mix in a way to make you just sit down and listen, but Monsta Funk seems to manage it every time. Records only, live recording as always.
