‘Friction Presents Elevate’ Photos via Timmy K aka Phomandark

Goldie, Dub Phizix, Rockwell & Friction – no way were we missing the chance to shoot this. Timmy K aka Phomandark was in effect, at the secret location of Factory 7, armed with camera on the night for the London Warehouse x Shogun Audio event which by all accounts not only delivered, but exceeded top expectations.

Strangely enough, whenever he’s shooting for us Timmy K seems to be breaking equipment, a trend that unfortunately continued, but didn’t tread on any spirits whatsoever. It’s worth sharing a portion of the email from the Monday after.

“Good night, I think single stage for a Drum and Bass event of this size is becoming rarer and personally I think it works really well. Also allowing DJs the room to breathe and play out a decent length set is something the scene can lack at time, High Rakin’s spoof Ravaggedon Advert – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACqVAfMzngs isn’t too far from the truth.

Allowing the performance time to move around the different styles and genres is a good thing. Last month I went to a big label night in a massive venue with at least 8 DJs on the flyer all with about an hour to make their mark on the crowd, It resulted in lots of build ups and drops repetition of tracks and a serious lack of flow. Frankly it was boring and Elevate was a complete contrast to this.

Elevate gave me confidence that Drum and Bass, Dubsteb or bass music how ever you wish to label it with has its place away from Ministry of Sound compilations and the latest car TV advert. There is a scene alive and kicking away from of the commercialisation and Shogun in partnership with London Warehouse Events delivered it up in style.

I hope that LWE keep doing what they are doing, I for one will be trying to get to as many of their parties as I can
