Here’s a nice way to start the working week, though due to it’s length probably something you won’t finish until the weekend; a full three hour set from the one and only Derrick May, destroying the dance in Japan.
Following the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami hit Japan pretty much every single artist set to tour the country cancelled their tour. Derrick May was out there playing this set less than a fortnight later, delivering a positive message to Japan and the rest of the world from the Tokyo club / streaming studio known as Dommune. Massive respect to Mayday.
Even more so as after he’s done with the interview and has physically removed the crew from the booth, he gets on with an incredible set, all of which was caught on camera and edited to a decent degree, a proper pleasure to watch.
As a super rarity we’ve even got a track list of sorts to go with it, user generated through youtube. Not sure how long this will stay up for (maybe we’ll have it forever?) but I tend to think that in the current climate it’s going to be disappearing before the year’s up. Check it out while it’s definitely there.
