Awkward Movements Sessions #51 – who:ratio

As always, a lot of respect from the chinstroke massive on who:ratio styles. Since his move back to Timisoara, who:ratio aka Claude Caprar has been constantly in touch, evolving to continue exploring new music sources that were previously foreign to a vinyl junkie, and as a result new musical appreciation. After decades of collecting wax and playing many styles across countless parties – including as a founding member of Sydney’s Foreign Dub – he seems to have found a balance of peace with his residencies, but more importantly focusing on doing things for himself and close friends now.

We asked him for some words on Awkward Movements Sessions #51, and while he refused to give a blurb of any sort, I think the email reply sums it up.

…should it be necessary to write in nowadays which way a mix is recorded ?

like what IS actually a dj mix ?
a real time session in music mixing ? linear or non linear ?
linear being your standard art of tune after tune press record or
the loop based auto sync ableton traktor infinity deck on deck style mixing ?
or a sequence that is mixed/built/put together over a longer period of time …
something more programmed to carry and go more on the lines of a mixed CD or compilation ?

there is a concept solidifying more n more in my head about what I am doing with this thing,
which I will let in on as I grasp it more … its prob a bit of a wank tbh but it prob has some merit there too….
at least for me it does….

spiritually and logistically,
because it ties into my recent years in the “wilderness” of non vinyl buying yet accumulating music via other sources

This is a masterclass in selection from who:ratio, and if you didn’t know he’s also the cat behind the aesthetic of what we do. Soulful mixing on the deep tip that skims from ambient to a proper floor vibe seamlessly.

who:ratio’s love of all things broken can be heard throughout. There’s a message in there, and for those built in bass, probably a lot of tracks you’ve not heard before.
