I may start giving up on planning shows. Generally there’s a box of tracks I definitely want to play and then a pile of other joints that we might squeeze in if there’s time. And most of the time the first pile goes untouched bizarrely.
We started off with beaten up jazz breaks and ended on track with ‘jazz’ in the name, so there might be something in going full circle there even if the sounds weren’t even close. We also bumped in some longcore, as it seemed to harsh to not play the full 15 minutes of M. Geddes Gangras’ Interior Architecture stand-out track. Dude’s a genius.
Bokeh Versions has fast become a buy on site label, and we managed to get in not just the current release but one from the label boss slated for release in the future courtesy of Jay Glass Dubs (pictured above).
One of these days I may finish with footwork, God knows the rest of the world seems to be moving on. But despite so much of the output being unplayable, week after week there also seems to be something crazy fresh coming out, for the most part from Teklife. Also with Planet Mu re-releasing one of the greatest albums of the last decade – DJ Diamond’s Flight Muzik – we had to get some in there.
As a final shout out we need to say that the Michael Turtle reissue on Music From Memory is stunning, make sure you cop it if not already done so.
