Alpha-ville 2011: International Festival of Post-digital Culture

First time I’ve clocked this festival, looks amazing. Running in London from 22nd to 25th of September, Alpha-ville have curated what is set to be a memorable few days celebrating and addressing “Post-digitial Culture.”

The events kick off at Rich Mix with an opening night that sees Old Apparatus taking the stage as well as Svarte Greiner and Polish artist Jacaszek. All three artists are doing full live AV sets.

As well as the performances and the highlight of day long Post-Digital Culture Symposium the festival is hosting talks, exhibitions, collaborations across a variety of our favourite London places. The list of industry folk involved in curating, talking and panels as well as the DJs and performers is too immense to justify listing a handful, but you can check out the full calendar here: http://www.alpha-ville.co.uk/calendar

A definite highlight is going to be on the performance tip, Friday the 23rd at XOYO. Jon Hopkins, Pantha Du Prince and Illum Sphere joined by EMN all doing live AV in one room with Andy Stott and Max Cooper playing live in Room 2.

Alpha-ville festival explores the intersection between art, technology and society and for this edition we are collaborating with various venues and spaces in London such us The Victoria & Albert Museum, Whitechapel Gallery, Rich Mix Cultural Foundation, Space Studios, Vortex Jazz Club, Netil House, XOYO and Hearn Street Warehouse to bring along an extensive 4-day event featuring social media art, kinect art, interactive installations, open labs, workshops, performances, screenings, live music & A/V shows, a one-day symposium and more!

The 2011 edition provides an online and live platform to explore, test and disseminate new ideas, emerging trends, collaborations and groundbreaking works. Running from 22-25 September and taking place alongside the London Design Festival, the 2011 edition enables a network of satellite events spreading across different London boroughs and links with other European cities such as Madrid (Twin Gallery) and Brussels & The Hague (Todays Art).

The festival programme also connects east and west London thorough a link with the V&A Digital Design Weekend.
