All My Records Episode 8

all my records episode 8 sleeves

The brutal realisation that I’d probably never play most of my record collection again before I die prompted me to start doing All My Records. As the name suggests this is is me playing all my records by order of filing: left to right, top to bottom, in the order they’re currently sitting. Single deck show, one off and one on, ladened with unnecessary reminiscing about when and why I bought them and talking crap. It’s remarkably therapeutic, I highly recommend you try it yourself.

Episode 8 in All My Records brings out some of my favourite beatsmiths: Mark Pritchard as Harmonic 313, Tokimonsta, Ras G, Suff Daddy, more Flying Lotus, Blue Daisy (one of the best live mic men too), Hudson Mohawke, DJ Day, Bullion and the great Thes One among them.

A few times I broke the rule of playing a single track off each record. The lineup above combined with the Echo Expansion LP from Dublab, the first Beat Dimensions compilation, Mosca, Take and a record handout from Twyman should explain why.

Most of this took me back to the late 00’s and reminded me about what a great time it was for my record purchasing. In fact, this was probably my favourite period for playing records out. Every week new beats and records dropped or old instrumentals were being reused and rediscovered. You didn’t even mix if the records were fresh, hearing them in context of a beats set was pure joy.

Hope you dig the show.
