All My Records Episode 7

All My records ep 7The brutal realisation that I’d probably never play most of my record collection again before I died prompted me to start doing All My Records. As the name suggests this is is me playing all my records by order of filing: left to right, top to bottom, in the order they’re currently sitting. Single deck show, one off and one on, ladened with unnecessary reminiscing about when and why I bought them and talking crap.

It’s remarkably therapeutic, I highly recommend you try it yourself.

We’re only seven shows deep but probably my favourite All My Records session to date. For the most part sitting in the beats scene from 2008-2010 I was pulling out records from labels such as Eat Concrete, Melting Pot Music and Fat City Recordings that I haven’t touched in years.

Danny Drive-Thru, Mike Slott and Hudson Mohawke as Heralds of Change and the man Dibia$e flipping up Darkhouse Family were all big drops on the bass heavy instrumental beats joints. We also dropped in the first two volumes of the Hi Hat Club series from Testiculo y Uno – aka Hulk Hodn and Twit One – and Suff Daddy respectively.

With all the talk of Flying Lotus last episode we got to his Los Angeles album this time around. One of my all time favourite remix plates appeared early on, Dimlite remixing Gaby y Carlos, get on that if you’ve not heard the record. Balance it out with some Bullion, and unkown and untitled drop from Onra and a spray painted Stones Throw EP from Baron Zen and we’re talking quality.

Yes, sometimes I allow myself to feel a bit proud of my record collection.

Thanks for listening, hope you dig it.
