All My Records Episode 10

record sleeves from AMR Ep 10The brutal realisation that I wouldn’t play most of my record collection again before I die prompted me to start doing All My Records. As the name suggests this is is me playing all my records by order that they’ve ended up in my shelves: left to right, top to bottom, how they’re currently sitting. Single deck show, one off and one on, ladened with unnecessary reminiscing about when and why I bought them and talking crap. It’s remarkably therapeutic, I recommend you try it.

It’s all been a little bit crazy here at Awkmo hq. The two months between shows which could certainly be attributed to some hecticness on my end but also arguably a subconscious reluctancy to leave the beats and rap records alone until we come back around to the second row of shelving.

Episode 10 is the first parts of disco and house that we’ve hit upon in my collection, for the most part reflecting what I’ll dub ‘The Phonica Years‘. There’s some truly great records in there, lots of vinyl only classics that will never make it to Spotify. We will also hit ‘tools’ – extended house mixes and edits who’s ability to stand on their own outside of a live play environment I’m unsure of.

Danny Wang, one of the living legends, kicks it off with cuts from The Best of Balihu series. We fly through some edits from Ghost Town  and Wholemeal Records, one of my all time favourites from Four Tet and a bboy classic from EU.

About now we hit some Moodymann bootlegs, which drag on too long and I’m not proud to own. Sorry about that. The gear itself showed it’s particular disdain for this dropping a channel and forcing me to scour the house for new cables to finish off the show.

Oneness of Juju, a straight classic and OFFICIAL Moodymann plate and a 12″ from People’s Potential Unlimited close it off.

We’ll get these up more frequently. And I promise that I’ll stop talking about 2006 RBMA.
